Cathechists

SS PETER & PAUL CATECHIST MINISTRY

Catholic SRE (Special Religious Education) is taught in State Primary Schools by dedicated volunteers who teach Catholic children about Jesus and His message of salvation.

Kiama SRE teachers (or Catechists) teach a 40 minute lesson each week of the school term to over 300 children in Kiama, Gerringong, Minnamurra and Jamberoo Primary Schools from Kinder to Year 6.

Catechists come in all shapes, sizes and ages and from all walks of life, reflecting the rich tapestry of our Church. The one thing they have in common is a desire to nurture the faith of the young people in our Parish.

All Catechists must go through a simple but important screening process, be in good standing with the Church as verified by the Parish Priest and undergo a brief training course.

Catechists teach the Christ Our Light and Life curriculum which is approved by the Bishop and contains suitable lessons for children from Kinder to Year 6.

For more information on becoming a Catechist in our Parish please contact the Catechist Coordinator, Gai Delavere on 0401 468 209.
