A CULTURAL DIVERSITY EXPERIENCE -  Burmese choir

 

Saturday 24 August in St Peter and Paul’s  Parish Hall

 

This event was jointly organised by the Parish Social Justice Committee and SCARF, (Strategic
Community Assistance to Refugee Families -
http://www.scarf1.org.au ) Wollongong who assist refugee families with humanitarian visas to settle in the Illawarra.

Those present enjoyed Ethiopian cuisine and Iraqi sweets with an Aussie afternoon tea served by
the SSPP Parents and Friends. Entertainment was provided by the  Burmese choir and dance
group;  the Togolese ‘story dancing’;  Congolese hip-hop;  SS Peter & Pauls Catholic primary school students sang Australian songs in harmonious acapella and Corpus Christi Catholic High School students sang a beautiful rendition of the “Hallelujah” song made famous by the ‘Choir of Hard Knocks’.
